Electrical Instrumentation and Controls Engineering, part of the Global Technical Services organization, is committed to delivering manufacturing breakthroughs, product initiatives, cost savings, and supply assurance projects with excellence. The Electrical Instrumentation and Controls Engineering team are the technical experts responsible for the design, construction, and startup of complex automation and technology projects. As part of a larger engineering team consisting of packaging, process, and project management, we work closely with our plant customers and R&D/production services to optimize projects for manufacturing and business needs. Our goal is to deliver reliable equipment and integrations that exceed startup and safety targets, and help the company grow top and bottom lines.

In this role, you will:

  • Leads electrical engineering efforts through all phases of capital projects – conceptual, feasibility, scope definition, cost estimates, functional requirements, system design, scheduling, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, startup, and validation.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in developing and managing estimates, financial analysis, contracts, and purchase orders. Includes the use of Clorox Early Management principles and activities to deliver customer expectations with vertical and sustainable project execution.

  • Support system start-up and operational checkout on systems including configuration, wiring, calibration, and power testing. Provide hardware and software application support assistance to engineers and operations.

  • Provides significant contributions and technical leadership for major technology efforts in the organization, either as an individual or team member.

  • Utilize technical materials such as equipment manuals, system drawings, P&IDs, schematics and blue prints to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical/control systems. Interpret industry, regulatory, and company specifications and standards and apply to projects.

  • Implement capital building & equipment installations and to improve manufacturing competitive performance.

  • Works in a participative team-based environment, using manufacturing best practice processes and principles, plans and leads the design and implementation of medium to large sized projects, programs, and manufacturing improvement projects that include the integration of outside technical resources.

  • Development of manufacturing equipment, processes, and procedures essential to line extensions, product improvements, and new product development.

  • Manage project scope, schedule, and finances to meet predetermined Clorox business objectives.

  • Provide technical analysis, project cost and schedule estimation, engineering effort forecasting, design recommendations, preparation of design and equipment specifications, design, review of design documents, development of construction sub-contract documents, and lead construction, commissioning, and start-up activities at plant facilities.

  • Deliver project safety performance objectives.

What we look for:

  • 5 years of engineering or operations experience in manufacturing (CPG, Foods, discrete manufacturing is a plus)Position will require the candidate to be in manufacturing environment with rotating equipment, elevated surfaces, temperature variations etc.

  • Engineering Degree (BSEE or similar), MBA / MS is a plusWorking knowledge of NEC, ANSI, IEC, NEMA, and NFPA standards

  • Working knowledge of data collection systems (SCADA, MES, Historian, SQL)

  • Ability to develop, read and interpret P&IDs and electrical drawings

  • Working knowledge of ISA –S88, PackML standards

  • PE Certification is a plus

  • Design Capability in Multiple Disciplines

  • Demonstrated Ability to Lead Cross Functional Teams

  • Strong technical skills related to electrical/instrumentation and controls, strong knowledge of industrial power distribution, and strong knowledge of Rockwell’s control system and devices.

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

  • Engineering or operations experience with packaging equipment and systems preferred.

  • Experience managing outside engineering firms, equipment vendors, and construction contractors to deliver project design details and to support project work.

  • Motivation & commitment to lead and direct others to exceptional results by aligning the technical tasks with the overall business objective.

Based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at Clorox in the first half of the applicable range. Your starting pay will depend on job-related factors, including relevant skills, knowledge, experience and location. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.

–Zone A: $86,600 - $161,900

–Zone B: $79,400 - $148,400

–Zone C: $72,100 - $134,900

This job is also eligible for participation in Clorox’s incentive plans, subject to the terms of the applicable plan documents and policies.
