Process Support Mechanic
The Maintenance Department is seeking a qualified candidate for the Process Support Mechanic position with an emphasis on supporting the Process Department at our Forest Park facility. Clorox needs your expertise. We offer an excellent compensation and benefits package.
• Plant is 24/ 7 Operation
• This position is Monday-Friday, 5:30am-2:00pm
• Possible weekend and holiday shifts
• On-call (outside normal hours) support
The process support mechanic provides troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment in an effort to resolve and mitigate/eliminate equipment losses & breakdowns throughout the plant with an emphasis in the process area. Tasks will require the utilization of electrical test devices, hand and power tools, shop equipment, and welding equipment.
Candidates must demonstrate a working knowledge in a number of technical areas to be a valuable asset to the position’s internal customers. These include, but, are not limited to the below:
Adhere to all Safety rules and procedures at all times
Adhere to all Maintenance Department procedures and processes
Learn and perform troubleshooting techniques including the ability to recognize wear/damage on various types of equipment prior to catastrophic failure
Perform various maintenance functions to make repairs and rebuild components using the appropriate tools
Strong ability to read, understand, and interpret technical data/service manuals, SOGs, troubleshooting guides, drawings, JIBs, JAs, etc.
Updates technical documentation as required
Utilize LEDS and ProcessBook to help in predicting and troubleshooting issues
Competently use SAP to create, find, edit, print, and complete work orders.
Demonstrate intermediate computer skills including Microsoft applications
Demonstrate a strong commitment to the Plant non-negotiables (Safety, Quality, Environmental and Housekeeping)
Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills in order to respond appropriately to supervisors and co-workers
Self-motivated work behavior requiring limited to no supervision
Project a positive company image by interacting with fellow employees, customers, and management in a cooperative, supportive and courteous manner; display an attitude of professionalism; comply with company dress code
Be willing to work overtime as needed. Workdays and schedule may change periodically according to business needs.
Demonstrate ability to prioritize work and/or complete prioritized work as received from the maintenance department
Will be required to assist in all types of maintenance activities not only in process but the rest of the plant as well such as: production lines, facility items, etc.
Key Skills, Abilities and Experience Required
Candidate will gain knowledge or have experience of :Electrical hazards.Use of multi-meter to determine power is isolatedReplace electrical components: Motors, process instrumentation, etc
EQ1 certification will be required for this role. Training will be provided for candidates not currently certified
Candidate will have experience demonstrating the ability to:Read and update technical information & documentation/drawingsUse hand and power tools.Use shop equipment including: drill press, band saw, presses, etcIdentify and install bearings and seals.
Candidate must demonstrate a basic understanding of:Mechanical drive systems.Shaft alignment techniques and tools.LubricationVarious pump types and maintenance practicesVarious process equipment such as: heat exchangers, flowmeters, level indicators, etc
Candidate will have experience with the ability to perform the following tasks using various shop equipment:Turn down a shaft using a latheCut a key way in a shaft using a milling machineBroach a sprocketCut metal using a torch.Basic stick weldingThreading pipe with a hand and powered pipe threaderPerform pipe fitting of various types of pipe: PVC, steel, etc.Replace various pump types and motorsReplace various process equipment such as: flowmeters, level indicators, etc.
Candidates should have the ability to assist in capital project work.
Candidates for the position will be evaluated in five areas – technical aptitude, education, work experience, performance, and leadership skills.
Technical Aptitude :
The primary technical skill the candidate must possess relates to work with industrial process and packaging equipment. The plant has a variety of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment that must be maintained and repaired. The successful candidate should possess the ability, aptitude and drive to troubleshoot these systems with a minimum of supervision so as to support manufacturing.
Education and Work Experience :
At least 3 years of Industrial Mechanical and/or Electrical work experience is required. Candidate can substitute successful completion of a two (2) year college curriculum in technical areas AND/OR vocational school certificates of completion of training in electrical or mechanical technical areas. Other vendor courses in machining, electricity, welding, or air conditioning – refrigeration are highly desirable and may be considered as experience. A wide exposure to various technical areas during past work experiences will be evaluated on an individual bases.
Candidate must display safe work practices and demonstrate those behaviors on a consistent basis. Candidates must be able to present information to groups with confidence. Demonstrate enthusiasm and pride in their work. Demonstrate initiative and ownership in addressing problems as they arise without supervision and develop creative and implement effective solutions.
