Job Description Summary

RETORT PRODUCTION ASSOCIATE, GLEN, MS

Utilizes considerable judgment and provides leadership when managing retort operations, reporting requirements, and maintenance needs. Strives to maintain and improve the system to meet or exceed all required operations and product specifications (e.g., production rates, product quality, safety, environmental). Works in a way that contributes to the plant’s team-based environment, ensuring compliance with and contributing to safety and environmental guidelines/practices at the plant.

In this role, you will:

eavy Equipment Operation:

  • Operate the Dozer and performs work in transporting Hog fuel (wood bark and chips) around the Hog fuel pile. This includes scraping and dozing loose material and “cutting” roads of compacted material throughout the pile.

  • Effectively operates hog fuel unloading system including but not limited to truck dump, walking floor trailer and sizing and grinding system.

  • Manages receipt, transport and storage of raw materials to ensure compliance with plant environmental and safety requirements.

  • Safely and efficiently operates front-end loader and Dozer to transport raw materials to storage silos or shed.

  • Manages pile rotation as needed to ensure viability of material and “one right way” principles, and participates in the Dozer captain rotational process.

Retort Controls Operation:

  • Controls the operation of the Retort and its ancillary equipment by use of an electronic control system, physical equipment inspection, and material attribute testing to produce Char material that meets defined quality specifications.

  • Continuously monitors and operates the entire system by observing and controlling a variety of interfaces using PLC controls, observation of emissions, and use of Excel to record process and environmental variables, analysis of Hog fuel and Char moisture.

  • Regularly obtains, labels and delivers samples of raw materials per procedural guidelines for testing and analysis by QA.

  • Communicates closely with Dozer Operator to maintain consistent process feed.

  • Works with other Retort and plant personnel in actions needed to clear process jams and correct equipment malfunctions.

  • Enters production, labor and loss data into SAP.

  • Controls total system start-up and shutdowns. Maintenance/Utility Operation:

  • Performs equipment maintenance, troubleshoots and makes minor repairs on all department rolling stock and operating equipment.

  • Performs preventive Maintenance to maintain equipment in base condition.

What we look for:

  • Must have high school diploma, GED, or equivalent

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must be eligible for legal employment in the U.S.

  • Medium level of computer efficiency skills, including Word, Excel, Power Point.

  • Ability to use hand tools in all aspects of maintenance.

  • Demonstrate the ability to learn skills such as (welding, cutting, pipe threading, heavy equipment operations, electrical troubleshooting).

  • Demonstrates ability to achieve results and meet deadlines with minimal direction.

  • Effective time management and ability to multitask.
