Working in a participative team based environment, using World Class Operations (WCO) processes and principles, the Staff Engineer participates on teams developing, designing, installing and starting-up new products, product improvements and technology upgrades for larger projects. Plans and leads small to medium sized projects. Provides thorough and practical solutions to complex problems with minimal assistance. Works under general management and completed work is checked for technical soundness and accuracy. Contacts are usually intra-organizational and more frequently with outside suppliers and consultants.

Position requires approximately 60-70% travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capital Project Management/Execution, Design, and Construction Management (Typical $100K - $1M)

  • Manage projects in accordance with Clorox Project Management Standards to achieve required results, timing, and budgetary targets

  • Manage outside engineering firms deliver project design details and to support project work. Provide leadership and supervision to construction contractors and equipment vendors. Manage spending to approved capital and expense budgets based on project estimates.

  • Deliver project safety performance objectives

  • Support cost savings initiatives to reduce project spending

  • Support and drive regulatory compliance

  • Technical Problem Solving and Engineering Services

  • Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls design

  • Ability to develop, read and interpret electrical drawings

  • Working knowledge of Allen Bradley hardware and software

  • Working knowledge of NEC and NFPA

  • Working knowledge of industrial power and lighting applications; power distribution; and MCC, conduit and wiring

  • Ability to develop, read and interpret electrical drawings

  • Support system start-up and operational checkout on systems including configuration, wiring, calibration, and power testing.

  • Provide hardware and software application support assistance to engineers and operations.

  • Utilize technical materials such as equipment manuals, system drawings, P&IDs, schematics and blue prints to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical/control systems.

  • Interpret industry, regulatory, and company specifications and standards and apply to projects.

  • Project Technical Feasibility Evaluations

  • Develop and manage estimates, financial analysis, contracts, and purchase orders. Includes the use of Early Management principles and activities to deliver customer expectations.

  • Provide technical expertise and insight to project teams on business and engineering needs and proposals.

  • Engineering Administrative Duties

  • Participate in and share information on technical seminars for departmental or cross functional training in order to stay up to date on current trends, changes, and technological advancements

  • Participate in strategy development and execution activities

  • Various administrative duties

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Electrical / Controls Engineering (BS EE, BS ECE)

  • 5 years of experience in an engineering role with capital projects

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

  • Position will require the candidate to be in manufacturing environment with rotating equipment, elevated surfaces, temperature variations etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

General

  • Good business acumen and judgment

  • Change management experience and discipline

Technical

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, SAP or equivalent, and utilization of Engineering Standards

  • TPM / Lean Manufacturing processes and techniques

  • Proven skills to effectively document and communicate technical information

  • Experience in batch, continuous, and discrete manufacturing a plus

  • Working knowledge of ANSI, IEC, NEMA a plus

  • Engineering or operations experience with consumer packaged goods packaging equipment and systems preferred

  • Background in consumer packaged goods environment
