The Clorox Company Assistant Manager, Marketing Accounting in Oakland, California

Lead and supervise our monthly and quarterly close and forecasting processes, as well as an opportunity to shape and re-define these processes for the future. In this position this individual will become an expert in the Company's various marketing programs, including Advertising, Sales Promotion, Coupons, and Market Research. This individual will develop strong leadership and influencing skills by working with U.S business partners within the Finance, Sales and Marketing organizations. This position also manages 3 direct reports.

Key Responsibilities

The Marketing Accounting group supports all the domestic businesses, excluding Nutranext. The key responsibilities of the group include:

  • Advertising, Sales Promotion and Prepaid Marketing accounting and balance sheet analytics.

  • Market Research close and forecast process, including P&L and B/S analytics.

  • Prior Year accrual training and accounting for above accounts.

  • Sports Marketing close and forecast process.

  • Electro graphics billing.

  • Advertising and Market Research Invoice payments.

  • Accounting guidance and support in consumer marketing spending matters (including ownership for the Consumer Marketing spending policy and Coupon Procedure).

  • ICC Self Assessments & PO Certification for Build Brands processes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA or CPA a plus

  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience in finance and/or accounting

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to communicate information to Senior Management and distill issues and risks

  • Strong leadership and project management skills with solution oriented mindset

  • People management and interpersonal skills with ability to independently prioritize, and promote team environment

  • Strong planning and organizational skills

  • Strong attention to detail and data integrity

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work in a cross functional environment and form solid relationships with other teams and work groups

  • Continuous improvement mindset with ability to identify and implement ways to streamline and improve effectiveness and efficiency

  • Understanding of Clorox's close and forecast processes

  • General accounting theory and understanding of financial statements

  • SAP experience and/or BW experience a plus
