The Clorox Company Senior Sourcing Manager , Marketing & Sales in Oakland, California

The Senior Sourcing Manager leads the global sourcing strategies for Marketing and Sales categories to achieve broad business objectives within these spend categories. Drives management and strategic sourcing of Creative Agencies, Media Marketing, Market Research, Content Production, and Sales Distribution categories and supports both regional and global purchases across multiple business units. This role is part of a global team that is focused on business partnership with our stakeholders and is specifically responsible for creating global sourcing strategies with GSS peers and internal stakeholders. The Senior Manager maintains and provides a current understanding of industry best practices and technology trends to team members and business partners. The key focus is to optimize the sourcing role through cost savings, risk mitigation and total impact (efficiency) for functional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Builds relationships with senior cross-functional stakeholders in Marketing, Sales, and IT.

  • Is a "trusted business advisor" who manages stakeholders and change (sets expectations, educates, updates, aligns and broadens thinking relative to Corporate Indirect GSS).

  • Provides counsel to business stakeholders on solutions to their business issues related to ongoing business, contracts and statements of work.

  • Key partner with the functional stakeholder to support management of (as applicable) ongoing Supplier Relationship Management (program and/or relationship).

Engages with Agency C-Level Finance, Account and Legal staff on developing relationships, contracts and scopes of work.

Develops global sourcing strategies to deliver against business objectives for internal clients and achieves sustainable relationships with suppliers.

  • Owns strategic pipeline and savings.

  • Has overall project accountability and oversight.

Dotted-line people management responsibilities for the outsourced Procurement Buyers, Contract Services, and/or Analysts.

Minimum Qualifications

Years and Type of Experience:

  • 7 years business experience in any of the following: Marketing, Sourcing, Project Management, Sales, Business Development or Legal

  • 3 years of experience managing marketing/innovation projects, working with suppliers/vendors/external partners, developing contracts or negotiating agreements

Skills and Abilities

  • Initiative -- Eagerness to learn new skills and curiosity to continuously improve current processes

  • Diversity in previous assignments that demonstrates ability to manage strategic business issues

  • Ability to develop relationships, build networks and develop win-win solutions

  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels within the Clorox organization and with external partners. Demonstrated ability to effectively influence without authority

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate complex business situations clearly and articulately

  • Planning and organization skills--Ability to establish work plans, multi-task and prioritize simultaneous projects. Flexibility to flow to highest priority work

Education level/Degree

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference for experience in an Indirect Procurement or Marketing function at a multinational Consumer Product Goods(CPG) company with global contracts

  • Knowledge of CPG marketing and product development and launch processes

  • Working knowledge of marketing and sales contract terms

  • Negotiation skills

  • Project experience--Participation on team to develop a new product. Comfort working within fuzzy front end of marketing and innovation
