Position summary

Lead R&D's Advanced Measurement Sciences Department to provide state-of-the-art Analytical, Microbiological, Mathematical, and Modelling services to all of Clorox's businesses. Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and Develop a team of leaders, both people managers and technical experts

  • Develop group members' skills against business needs in key technical areas: Micro Biology, Analytical Chemistry, Mathematics, and Modeling/Simulation

  • Manage people processes (performance, development, compensation) and build bench strength and succession planning.

  • Create and be part of a high performance team that uses agile processes to develop and implement new methods and capabilities in support of new product creation and ongoing product benefits.

  • Identify, champion and adapt new technologies, tools and processes; help to develop best practices and drive continuous improvement in innovation and technology throughout R&D.

  • Execute with Excellence

  • Project Leadership - allocate people against current business priorities; create recommendations for projects by working closely with cross-functional partners and the Business Leadership Team to support projects from charter to launch.

  • Ensure functional & technical excellence in all R&D work - utilize technical and creative problem solving skills to successfully translate consumer needs to robust technical approaches and drive technology from internal & external sources to deliver superior products

Minimum Requirements:

  • Demonstrated effectiveness at communicating and influencing across functional, technical and organizational boundaries.

  • High energy, positive drive, and commitment in setting and meeting aggressive goals and enjoy working in a variety of cultures and settings.

  • Demonstration of strong leadership, technical, communication and teamwork skills.

  • Strategic Vision with ability to propose, analyze, and articulate short, medium and long term scenarios for business opportunities.

Years and Type of Experience:

  • 10+ years relevant experience managing technical groups in CPG, Biotech, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Petroleum or equivalent industries.

  • 6+ Demonstrated experience leading, managing and developing a group of technical leaders and individual contributors to drive business results.

Preferred Skills:

  • Extensive experience in one of the three key knowledge areas (Analytical Chemistry, Microbiology and/or Mathematical Modeling) and relevant experience in the other two.

Education Level/Degree:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Engineering or related technical field preferred, Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.
