The Clorox Company Industrial Design/Design Strategist in Pleasanton, California

Design helps unlock insights that create new and meaningful experiences and bring them to life through visualization. You will have the opportunity to play across all the Clorox brands and make a large impact with our Company. The design team is a core piece of the innovation of new products in R&D. Reporting to the Department Manager of Design; the Industrial Designer/Strategist will join a team of 6. This role will be responsible for the design, design strategy, management and execution of structural packaging, product design and business growth across the Clorox brand portfolio. You will work closely with stakeholders from R&D, Research, Brand Management and Marketing and lead product and packaging design programs from concept to execution through collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with our various Businesses and Brands identify new opportunities for growth

  • Ability to leverage insights to create personas and translate them into design imperatives in order to find solutions beyond what consumers will think is acceptable to make them better

  • Take insights and visualize ideas on how they can be brought to life with project teams

  • Lead workshops, develop the work, fine tune it at end and ensures buy-in from key stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10 years design industry experience

  • Diverse experiences at top tier design consulting firms working with clients in different industries, including top tier CPGs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience doing business development in consulting environment

  • Mindset: highly collaborative at the initiation, execution, and completion of projects

  • Comfortable with ambiguity, ability to translate consumer insights into concepts and then 3D prototypes

  • Be a strong hands-on designer with excellent end to end ID and design management skills

  • Have/use a full suite of research, ideation, visualization and physical prototyping methods and tools

  • Thrive as a member of a lean (stealth) team and get to apply all their design skills

  • Have deep knowledge of manufacturing

  • Be adept at navigating a large corporation

  • Have strong (visual/verbal) presentation skills for engaging and influencing senior leadership, internal stakeholders and customers (e.g. Target, Costco) at all levels

Education Level/Degree:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

  • Prefer degree in Industrial Design with product centric focus and Design Strategy focus
