We are currently seeking an experienced Packaging Scientist to join the Cleaning R&D team. In this role, you will bring technical and innovation leadership to help drive our ambitious topline and profit objectives.

You will be part of a high performing team, driving your projects, which will range from the creation of new and innovative packaging for discovery programs to developing new/improved packaging through the commercialization process for both growth and cost savings initiatives. You will ensure that our packaging can be successfully and consistently produced, and you will play a significant role driving innovation in a wide range of packaging for the Cleaning Business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead packaging R&D on projects, including all aspects of packaging from primary to shipping cases, unit load and point-of-purchase displays

  • Utilize creative problem solving skills, technical expertise and bias for action to deliver solutions that meet consumer and customer needs on time and with excellence.

  • Build strong working relationships with peers, stakeholders and cross functional partners (Marketing, Product, Packaging, Sales, Manufacturing, Project Management) and external partners to facilitate alignment and efficient and on-time execution of projects

  • As an experienced packaging scientist, identify approaches to improve capabilities and best practices and mentor more junior packaging scientists.

  • Partner with vendors, Clorox plants and co-packers to assure package components are of high quality, efficiently produced and easily run on packaging lines

Minimum Qualifications

Years and Type of Experience:

  • 5-8 years experience in packaging development or related packaging industry, preferably consumer packaged goods

Skills and Abilities

  • High passion, positive drive, and commitment in setting and meeting aggressive goals and seeking out new opportunities

  • Experience driving consumer-centric projects

  • Working knowledge of blow molding and injection molding technologies, FEA and dispensing closures

  • Broad knowledge of CPC packaging industries, suppliers, and end users.

  • Demonstrated strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to work in a highly collaborative team environment and with multi-functional groups and external partners.

Education Level/Degree:

  • B.S./M.S. Packaging Science, Material Science, Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience driving technical and consumer innovation projects, utilizing packaging knowledge to push boundaries and enable teams to deliver innovation against real-world consumer problems.

  • Mentoring of junior scientists, Risk Taking, Influencing, Idea Integration, &/or Results Seeking

  • Experience with thermoform, child resistant packaging, modeling and simulation
