The Clorox Company is seeing undergraduate students to form consultant case study teams to gain practical experience...

Challenge Summary: Two- Three Teams of 4-6 individuals will be assigned one of two challenges to work on for a 6 week period. At the end of the 6 weeks, teams will present their findings to a core group of leaders at the Clorox Pleasanton, CA campus or the Burt's Bees campus in Durham, NC.

Challenges:

#1 -- How can Clorox provide a more personalized packaging for product/product set, yet be sustainable?

Scope: Facial Towelettes

  • Value Chain

  • Point of Purchase

  • How might we use digital technology to:

  • Make the shift to more reusable, recycled, recyclable packaging and substrates

  • So that we can:

  • Design waste out of our product and/or packaging

Scope: Face Care, Lip Care, Color Cosmetics:

  • Value Chain:

  • Point of Purchase

  • How might we use digital technology to:

  • Better inform consumers of the consequences of their choices (product/packaging purchase and choice about disposition of packaging)

  • So that we can:

  • Enroll consumers as part of the solution to address CPG waste issues

#2 -- Build an internal and external facing website for Clorox with a "WOW" factor that clearly represents the spirit of innovation and the importance of digital transformation becoming the DNA of Clorox. The website will need to render correctly on both IOS and Android devices.

  • Technical Knowledge - understanding of basic IT programs, business programs, engineering programs

  • Manage individual workload and deliver to agreed upon project milestones

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA -- Rising juniors and seniors in IT, Business or Engineering

  • Candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • U.S. Citizen or permanent resident and have legal right to regular employment in the U.S.

  • Challenge #1 -- Out of the box thinker, have built a business model or have an understanding of what goes into building a business model.

  • Challenge #2 -- Experience building websites -- share links to previous work completed.
