Your role at Clorox:

Pay Range $42.32 – $48.07

Shift:

Group A: 12 hours Shifts (Week 1: Su-Wed 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM/ Week 2: Su-Tue 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM)

Group B: 12 hours Shifts (Week 1: Thur-Sat 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM/ Week 2: Wed-Sat 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM)

Note: Must have flexibility to complete training on M-F 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM schedule for a period of 3 to 6 months.

The primary role of the Electrical and controls Technician is to care for the successful operation of all electrically controlled devices on his/her shift in a safe manner. Further, each technician will be overall responsible for the electrical controls on certain lines and or department assigned to him/her. Duties include following all Clorox Plant safety rules, eliminating safety risks present in his or her systems, troubleshooting electrical and control problems, ensuring proper hardware and software configurations for devices, ensure proper functioning of devices, use of the most current programs, performing PM’s, properly inputting data into the CMMS system, executing work orders, backing up programs and keeping prints and manuals up-to-date.

This position is considered a safety-sensitive position, meaning, a lapse of attention could adversely affect the safety of others by resulting in injury, illness, or death, including without limitation a position that includes the operating, repairing, maintaining, or monitoring of heavy equipment, machinery, or operation motorized vehicle.

In this role, you will:

  • Performing all work in a safe manner at all times. This is to include following all basic electrical safety rules, all Clorox and Plant safety rules and constantly evaluating work being performed and eliminating the risks associated with it. Further, correct any unsafe conditions that exist in the equipment under his/her care.

  • Troubleshoot basic electrical problems throughout the plant. This includes taking voltage and amp readings, tracing wiring, evaluating relays, testing motors, evaluating health of wiring, checking breakers and fuses, evaluating sensors and determining the health of valves. If a problem is found, determine the proper course of action and safely implement it.

  • Troubleshooting motor and motor control problems. This includes determining if a motor, a motor starter, run relay, VFD or servo motor is functioning properly and is configured properly. If there is a problem, determine the proper course of action and safely implement it. The technician needs to have a thorough knowledge of all VFD’s and Servo motors used in the plant.

  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain electrical equipment including but not limited to: motors (all types), starters, breakers, transformers, isolation switches, relays, fuses, resistors, air conditioning, valves, AC Drives, DC Drives, electrical cable, fiber optic cable, coaxial cable, conduit, receptacles, PLC’s, heaters, control panels, lights & lighting panels, distributive controls, UPS, fire & emergency alarms, turbine controls, disposal of bulbs and other hazardous material.

  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, install, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation equipment including but not limited to: transmitters (all types), valves, I/P, positioners, actuators, dampers, flow meters, and level sensors.

  • Troubleshooting Allen Bradley, B&R, Siemens and Mitsubishi PLC problems. This includes connecting to the PLC, determining what component in the PLC or external to it is not functioning properly, determining the course of action and safely implementing it. To do this, the technician needs to have a thorough understanding of the programs in the plant, the controls associated with each system and all the PLC product lines we use.

  • Troubleshoot Fanuc robot program and vision issues. This includes perform robot program backups and restores, teach vision and axis mastering.

  • Troubleshoot problems with HMI’s software and hardware. Isolate the problem, determine the proper course of action and safely implement it.

  • Troubleshoot control network problems. Understand the architecture and parameters of the network for PLC’s, Wonder Ware and Process databases and be able to fix the problems that will arise. This is to include wiring problems, corrupted file problems, failed component problems and set-up problems.

  • Troubleshoot problems with metal detection systems, case coding, and bottle coding systems. Determine proper course of action and safely implement it.

  • Perform continuous improvement tasks. This includes upgrade controls instrumentations, program optimization and HMI changes.

  • Maintain all electrical prints for all the systems that have been assigned. This is to include a copy at the panel, a copy in the central library and a copy in a software format on the network. Ensure any modifications are reflected on all three copies and the revision date, reason and person modifying are recorded.

  • Maintain all PLC and Robot programs for all the systems assigned. This is to include a copy at the panel, a copy in the central library and a disc back-up of the program.

  • Maintain all parameters for all VFD’s and HMI’s for the systems assigned. This is to include a copy at the VFD or HMI location, a copy in the central files and a copy in a software format on the network.

  • Provide electrical support to capital and internal projects. This is to include job walks, print reviews, job scopes, and participating in meetings. Further, help drive upgrades to the control systems in the plant.

  • Ensure compliance with the Controls Change Management System where non-emergency changes are approved and documented prior to the change being made.

  • Train mechanics on all shifts to be able to handle rudimentary electrical and control problems on the floor. Work with the management team to train certain individuals at an even higher level.

  • All paperwork must be completed, entered on the computer and turned in daily before leaving.

  • Clean the work area after each job (no oily rags, loose nuts and bolts, metal shavings, pieces of wire, etc.). Also clean your workstation daily.

  • Maintain proper tools in good working condition - order new items as needed.

  • Perform mechanical work as needed; learn mechanical skills as needed.

  • Perform other job functions as assigned.

  • Ensures that safety needs are given a top priority in all work performed.

  • Attends meetings with department and participates in the overall plant safety & BAPP policies.

d.) Process control valves;

e.) Pneumatic Control Systems;

f.) Hydraulic Control Systems;

g.) Metal Detection Systems;

h.) Case and bottle Coding Systems.

  • Knowledge of and ability to interface with and troubleshoot the following motor control equipment properly and safely. Such items include, but are not restricted to:

a.) Motor Starters;

b.) Run Relays;

c.) Variable Frequency Drives;

d.) Servo Motors and Controls;

  • Knowledge of and ability to interface with and troubleshoot Allen Bradley PLC’s to include the following;

a.) Connecting to the PLC;

b.) Reading Ladder Logic;

c.) Diagnosing Hardware Problems;

d) Diagnosing Software Problems.

  • Ability to deal professionally with people during times of equipment breakdown.

  • Individual production – efficiency of working habits.

  • Knowledge of equipment nomenclature, spare parts identification and the location of same.

  • Ability to understand and evaluate the operation of the equipment; detect or anticipate malfunctions.

  • Initiative – demonstrated pride of workmanship, neatness of work and in personal dress.

  • Responsibility – fulfilling obligations of job assignments and reporting to work in a dependable manner. Reporting in to the department when unable to come to work in sufficient time to cover his / her shift.

  • Desire and willingness to improve himself / herself in the skills and techniques of the profession and in personal areas.

  • Communication – ability to accurately relay information, request information or describe a problems.

  • Willingness to handle paperwork and data entry.

  • Availability - must be available for on-call duty during off-hours, including weekends, to provide remote support as needed.

Years and Type of Experience :

  • 3-5 Years experience in Previous EIC role.

  • 3-5 Years experience in Food Manufacturing or related Industries / Process is preferred.

Education Level/Degree:

  • Minimum 2-year Technical Degree from accredited college.
