Your role at Clorox:

As a Plant Process Engineer, this employee must use process engineering principles and best practices to design and improve Clorox manufacturing processes that involve the mixing/conversion of raw materials through various unit operations into finished products.

In this role, you will:

  • Providing day-to-day process engineering technical expertise to manufacturing operations as needed.

  • Participating in multi-functional teams providing process engineering functional expertise for project design, execution, commissioning, and start-up.

  • Working with R&D and Product Supply to scale up production to the plant.

  • Being a plant subject matter expert in our powder blending, tableting, and encapsulation processes (including probiotics storage, handling and processing)

  • Critical involvement as a main plant resource in the Tech Transfer process.

  • Coordinating and critically reviewing work products from R&D, Technical Services, and outside engineering/consulting firms to provide detailed process engineering work for projects.

  • Working across different technologies within the Plant.

  • Ensuring Safety, Change Management, and Quality requirements are met for all work products

  • Position requires up to 10% travel

  • Interface with and direct Operator, Contractor, Maintenance, R&D, and Technical Service resources. Through leadership and influence, manage project teams and other cross-functional teams to deliver various process-related projects and improvements, and solve process-related problems. Manage and direct the work of outside engineers/consultants during design and implementation of projects.

  • Train (or ensure training occurs for) Operators on the proper use of equipment and machinery as a part of the project. Interact with R&D and Product Supply to develop scale up production for the plant. Assist with rework, including basic formulation tasks. Work with change management personnel to address new or modified process and procedures. Assist the Area Manager in writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Job Aids, and standard work for newly purchased and existing equipment. Work with the Safety Manager to ensure safety excellence on assigned lines. Work with QC department on projects to ensure repeatable good quality on assigned lines.

  • Assignments emphasize the application of expert knowledge to improve manufacturing’s competitive performance. Provides cross-functional team the technical knowledge and leadership required for the development of manufacturing equipment and processes essential to process and product improvements. Develops and implements projects/programs that provide competitive improvements. Plans and leads small to medium-sized projects/programs that include the integration of outside technical resources.

What we look for:

  • 7 years professional experience in process engineering including 5 years working in tablets, capsules, and powders.

  • Experience should also include at least 2 years of probiotics work(storage/handling/processing), and 2 years of production/operations work.

  • Basic formulation knowledge for tablets/capsules/powders required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have good process engineering capabilities related to process efficiency/improvement and production scale-up for the forms mentioned above.

  • Must have good written, listening, and verbal communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with all levels of organization, including basic technical writing skills

  • Must have the ability to effectively organize and lead meetings.

  • Must be able to work with a cross-function of Plant Operators, Mechanics, Technicians, R&D, Central Engineering, other corporate personnel, outside resources, and contractors to deliver results.

  • Must have ability to plan and organize work independently and work with minimal supervision.

  • Must have the ability to lead informal and formal teams.

  • Must demonstrate attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Must have experience in FDA regulated quality control systems, nonconformance investigations, and CAPA analysis and execution

  • Working knowledge required of manufacturing equipment/systems with a specific emphasis on Powder Blending, Tablet Compression, and Encapsulation. Tablet Coating experience a plus

  • Working knowledge required of storage, handling, and processing of probiotics.

  • Experience with equipment types/styles and line speeds similar to the Company’s current production systems a plus.

  • Experience with probiotics formulation a plus

Based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at Clorox in the first half of the applicable range. Your starting pay will depend on job-related factors, including relevant skills, knowledge, experience and location. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.

–Zone A: $86,600 - $161,900

–Zone B: $79,400 - $148,400

–Zone C: $72,100 - $134,900

This job is also eligible for participation in Clorox’s incentive plans, subject to the terms of the applicable plan documents and policies.
