Position Summary:

The Process Department Manager is a leadership role within our Wheeling, IL foods plant. The role is responsible for the day to day operation within the blending and process areas of the plant. This position is responsible to lead and develop the workforce while meeting all regulatory requirements. Product and personal safety are core values that should never be compromised while meeting production requirements. This role is a part of the leadership team and report to the Assistant Plant Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day to day leadership for the process operations across all shifts. Responsible for the development of shift coordinators and indirectly manage 40+ hourly associates.

  • Ensure compliance with FSMA and acidified food regulations.

  • Develop, lead and manage key Quality systems within the department (AIB, GMPs, Sanitation requirements, etc.)

  • Monitors the total production process to ensure that safety, quality, production, and cost goals are met.

  • Reinforces the use of World Class Operations (WCO) tools (i.e. Lean Manufacturing, Autonomous Maintenance, Focused Improvement, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, etc...) to deliver measurable improvements and build the WCO culture and expertise within the plant.

  • Supports new product initiatives to ensure vertical startups.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree from an accredited institution

  • 2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment

  • 2 years' experience in a supervisory role

  • Position will require the candidate to be in manufacturing environment with rotating equipment, elevated surfaces etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree from an accredited institution in engineering, business or technology

  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment

  • Strong Sanitation/Quality background & experience

  • Process engineering experience

  • Working knowledge of rotating equipment, pumps, drives and conveying systems

  • Experience with SAP, GMP, and other process systems

  • Experience with capital budget development and management

  • Experience with operating and expense budget development and management

  • World Class Operations skills such as Autonomous Maintenance, Focused Improvements, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, etc.

  • Demonstrated, proven ability to lead and develop individuals and teams alike

  • Ability to drive sustained culture improvements and empower the workforce

  • Capability to understand and perform root cause analysis and problem resolution

  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work based on business needs and resources

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact, influence, and communicate with multiple levels of the organization

  • Proficient in computer skills such as Word, Excel, Access, etc.
